The Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf is once again at his game of campaigning to dislodge the Prime Minister from his post after he recently fired Mogadishu Mayor for not doing his job. The deposed Mayor of the Capital is a close ally of the corrupt President.
Mr Nur, the U.S. and other EU backed Somali Prime Minister is furious about the President's agenda of pulling strings to get him fired in line with his predecessor, Mr Gedi, the former Somali Prime Minister who was fired after he had political fued with Mr. Yusuf. Sources say if the un-reconcileable political differences continue, the TFG are once again in jeapordy of losing any remaining credibility.
The mistrust between the top TFG officials started when the Prime Minister removed several Abdullahi Yusuf loyalists from their government offices. Last week Mr. Nur removed Mohammed Dhere who was the Capital city's Mayor and worked directly for Mr. Yusuf. Mr. Dhere was know to do whatever possible to fulfill Yusuf's agenda of continuing Mogadishu crisis. Seing this as a contrary to what the Mayor's responsibilities were, Mr. Nur took action and fired him.
Many of the city's residents indorsed his decision with several show-of-support demonstrations. In turn, Mr. Yusuf started firing several minisers who are Nur's loyalists as well. In addition, he commanded more than 10 other ministers to stand down and resign. They later submitted their resignation to the Prime Minister's office.
Once again, the TFG appears to be devided from the top down. All Somalis and other interested third party nations involved in the Somali politics are on the look for what is going to happen next. Will it end with Prime Minister's removal again? or will there be reconcilliation between the TFG President and Prime Minister?
